Virginia Division, United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC), offers the Towberman-Epperson Veterinary Medicine Scholarship to residents of the Commonwealth of Virginia for use in a United States college or university towards a degree in Veterinary Medicine and/or Surgery. The scholarship will be filled, if possible, by the Committee on Education for the academic years 2024-2025.
The amount of each scholarship awarded or re-awarded will be $1,000.00 per academic year. A check made payable to the college or university for the entire annual amount of the scholarship awarded or re-awarded will be sent to the Financial Aid Office on or about August 15th of each year. Students who apply for this scholarship through Virginia Division are asked to comply with these published rules for applying:
- A United States citizen;
- Have a GPA of 3.5 or higher;
- Successfully completed all prerequisite, required courses leading to a declared degree in Veterinary Medicine and/or Surgery; and
- Attend a college/university fully accredited in Veterinary Medicine.
No Confederate lineage is required.

The UDC General Organization offers scholarships on a national basis to those seeking higher education in the United States. The deadline for submission of General scholarship applications to the Virginia Division Second Vice President is March 15th of each year.
